Pros: Nice style
Cons: Useless battery

Having just got the N95 I found the battery was only lasting about 10 hours. This was not because I was using sat nav, games etc. I was making about one phone call and some texts. I took it back to the shop thinking it was a dud battery. The shop gave me another battery and this was the same. On phoning the manager he checked a website and apparently the phone is too sophisticated for the battery....

My N Crappy 95 Product

Pros: Lots to use and prob more than you will ever use Cons: Battery useless

Waited ages and ages for phone to be available, so when I finally got it was bit dissappointed. Slides too easily, sat nav takes ages, screen goes off too quickly and battery doesn't last a day.

Nokia Do NOT have a car kit for the N95 beleive me I have tried

I have been in touch with Nokia several times
The best I could do is a brodit active holder for car use

Yes The N95 should have a car kit but it does not have the pop port so will only connect on BT using even more battery power So thats not the reason for the poor battery Mine sometimes can last 10 to 15 hours and other days goes flat in under 3 and it is charged every night (it has to be) My N73 lasted 3 days and my 6230 last 2 weeks

Review: Nokia N95

Had the phone for three months, battery life is deteriorating down now to 3 hours before requiring charging. Charge fully before bed, turn it off and it still manages to discharge. Phone software is getting slower, GPS doesn't work. Taken it in to be fixed a couple of times. Fed up, only option left is to take out a new contract just to get rid of the phone.

Re: N95 Battery life possible solution to poor battery life.

2 Full days? Nokia say 200 hours on standby. I tried this. I have had mine for a month now. I fully charged it left it on the side with no sim, no applications open, no network in offline mode, wifi off, and timed the battery. It bearly lasted 48 hours with no use whatsoever. And Nokia blame the features? I say Poor nokia battery's. My sony K800 converted to a K810 lasts 4 days plus with 3G turned on. Work it out nokia follow the Masters. Sony Ericsson.

Performance
The N95 biggest flaw is battery life -- we rarely got more than a single day's use. If you are using something as your MP3 player, email device, Web browser and phone, it's no surprise, really. Nokia rates talk time on 3G at only 2.5 hours, music playback 7 hours, standby time 9 days -- but who would pay over AU$1000 for a device just to sit there. With minimal usage -- a couple of texts per day -- we got just under three days.

While the battery is our number one gripe, another is the sluggish processor when multiple applications are running. Adding to the problem -- or causing it -- is the N95's Symbian-based operating system, which keeps multiple applications open unless you specifically hit exit, each taking their own slice of system memory.

First day with the Nokia N95
Friday, July 6th, 2007

NokiaN95 charged overnight and ready for action! It’s 05:00 - let’s see how long that battery really lasts…

There’s a fair bit of time in traffic, so I get going with the installation of some applications. First off, the most important issue is getting data, namely contacts and calendar from the Exchange server. One answer in the S60 world is the Mail for Exchange application, provided as a free download from Nokia. The 1.8MB application downloads in a flash over the HSDPA connection, installs and I spend some moments entering Exchange server details. In another minute, all current calendar items and contacts have been synchronized with the device. Seamless! Get Gmail Mobile,Fring, Gizmo and Jaiku down too.

A couple of phone calls and check for mail. Test the GPS and the camera. The GPS acquires satellites in less than 30 seconds from a cold start. Track my progress on the road. No problems!

I’m unable to get the phone to connect to PC Suite on Windows XP. No amount of cajoling helps. Plug and unplug the USB cable, try Bluetooth. All to no avail.

At 14:00, the battery is depleted. No phone. No communication possible. Dead in the water and I’m disappointed. That’s just shy of 9 hours - maybe a day in normal speak, but I was hoping to get through an entire day. Without a charger nearby, there’s little else I can do but stick the SIM into the JAMin and fall back to my old device. Another night to charge the battery. Maybe today’s use was just too heavy…

Nokia N95

Hi,

I recently got the N95 on contract and had it for 1 week now. Thought it was a great phone but now not so sure. It tends to hang a bit and close applications on its own and the battery life is terrible. I understand if you play around with the different features alot its going to eat your battery charge. But i'm talking just about standby time and having to charge my phone daily after making a few phone calls. If you're someone that makes and recieves alot of calls a day then this phone is not phore you!
and on top of that i've yet to get the barcode reader to scan or connect with the GPS?

12 things to consider before buying a Nokia N95
Sun, 08/04/2007 - 22:11 — Paul

m95gps.jpgOm Malik took the Nokia N95 for a spin and came up with a list of 12 considerations to bear in mind before you go out to buy the Nokia N95. For the most part there is pretty good news although the battery life is disappointing.

N95 poor battery life
My friend has a N95 and he wants to throw the phone out of the window. The reason? With 'medium' use, he only gets half a day battery life.

I have done the following for him:

1. Turned off 3G.
2. Adjusted the screen brightness to 'low'.
3. Screen saver de-activated.
4. Bluetooth off, Wi-fi off.

What else can we do to save battery power?

I had my mates one for 4 days... a bit of testing. It works nicely for one day and the next day it runs down very quickly.

So I will have to also decide if its worth getting a phone that I must charge every night.

My friend gets quite a few phone calls during the day and says that when he is driving to various building sites, he must constantly put his N95 on the car charger, otherwise it runs out of juice. Then when he gets home, back on the mains charger. Can't be fun.

These extracts were Posted at - http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=76815

Well, the most I got was 3 days. The average is about 2 days and with heavy usage I get 1 day.

So, must I tell my friend that there is nothing you can do - the N95 is unfortunately 'blessed' with a crap battery?

I also got the N95 as a test handset & the battery like is pathetic i must say. The applications are excellent and i have tried to query with nokia without success. Please advise when you get something positive.

I found it very funny that all the n95 fanboys are defending the phone's poor battery life, instead of demanding that Nokia release a new battery for it.
